DISCOCERV cervical disk prosthesis is a surgical implant designed to preserve the physiological motion of a cervical spine segment using the anterior approach.
This prosthesis is intended for surgical treatment of the cervical spine in patients with cervical degenerative disorders and absence of instability.
Discocerv features a highly innovative ceramic-on-ceramic bearing surface with a low friction coefficient and, consequently, a low wear rate.
DISCOCERV is a ceramic-on-ceramic bearing surface structure comprising an acetabulum and a sphere. Both parts of the bearing surface are housed on metal plates in contact with vertebral bodies.
The superior surface of the disk replacement is convex in the sagittal plane and the inferior surface has a concave profile to better adapt to vertebral plates from the frontal plane.
This prosthesis is indicated for implantation only in spaces between C3 and C7.
It is used for:
- Degenerative disk disease with absence of instability
- Disk herniation
- Myelopathy associated with foraminal or canal spondylotic stenosis
- Radiculopathy associated with neurological deficit unresponsive to medical treatments
